Cinilla Coffee: The Story
It was 2011, and flavor chemist/co-founder John had a process to his flavor creation. He started in his personal creation in his apartment, but his e-liquid crafting process was every bit as calculated and efficient as the AEMSA standards that our lab would adopt. It was a hotbed for new and interesting flavors in a time when we could make new flavors for our customers, or anyone who wanted something new. On the coffee table sat a permanent glass bowl filled with new concoctions for anyone who wanted to try. During that time, John’s roommate was struggling to get in to vaping. He had his reasons for wanting to, but…
Butter Pie: The Story
Every flavor starts somewhere. While some have a more obvious inspirations than others, some can seem a little obscure. For Butter Pie, it’s a little of both. To set the stage, it was August 2015, and Jvapes had but 72 flavors, and nothing with peanut butter, a much requested flavor. We were set to launch a single, secret flavor, but we felt we needed to make the release a duo, at least, and maybe a trio. The inspiration for a peanut butter-infused flavor that was a little outside the norm was hard to come by. One thing was certain, though: celery and peanut butter wouldn’t do, not by a long…
FDA Potentially Has One Interesting Solution To Their “Youth Vaping Epidemic”
Since the FDA declared youth vaping an epidemic they have spoken openly about additional policies and plans to curb the numbers they say are present in their findings. These reports are not public, but the FDA maintains that their frequent use of the word “epidemic” is accurate. In fact, they believe this “youth vaping epidemic” is so severe that they’re interested in taking some unprecedented action. The FDA has announced that they will hold a public meeting on December 5thto discuss “the potential role of drug therapies to support youth e-cigarette cessation.” This is part of their plan to “eliminate youth electronic cigarette,” and, seemingly as an afterthought, “other tobacco…
FDA Makes More Moves On Underaged Vape Sales
In a September 12th press release, the FDA announced new measures taken against underaged vape sales. The new release highlighted that the FDA’s investigations this year have resulted in more than 1,300 warnings and fines to retailers. The focus of those communications centered around illegal sales of vape products to minors during their “blitz of brick-and-mortar and online stores,” while also requiring action from five major manufacturers regarding their plans going forward. The FDA mentions that they “remain committed to advancing policies that promote the potential of e-cigarettes to help adult smokers move away from combustible cigarettes, that work can’t come at the expense of kids,” but, as commissioner Scott…

Tariffs May Inadvertently Change The U.S. Vaping Industry
In the U.S., vapers are no strangers to the effects of government policies on their lives, but it rarely happens as indirectly as it will soon. When the President announced new tariffs on imports from China, the effect on the vaping industry was likely the furthest thing from his mind. Unlike other regulations, this particular action is not meant to directly affect vaping, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t. In its broadest form, the act is set to subject Chinese imports to a 25% tariff when they fall in to certain categories. There are hundreds of different products that will see this increase as the tariffs attempt to drive…

FDA Begins Vape Marketing Enforcement
The upward ramp of FDA enforcement on e-liquid has seen another milestone. On May 1st, the FDA issued a press release detailing their first round of actions on e-liquid that they found in violation of their marketing and packaging requirements. The release states that it is part of “ongoing efforts to protect youth from the dangers of nicotine and tobacco products.” “Today the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued 13 warning letters to manufacturers, distributors, and retailers for selling e-liquids used in e-cigarettes with labeling and/or advertising that cause them to resemble kid-friendly food products, such as juice boxes, candy or cookies, some of…
Can An App For Vapers Thrive? Vaffle Might Have The Best Chance.
With the increasing number of reports that vaping related YouTube videos have gone missing, many vapers fear that the content they love or potentially need to further their expertise may go missing with it. Let’s face it, with an industry such as vaping that is deeply rooted in technology and the ease of sharing information, social networks play a huge role. Vapers don’t want their content to be curated for them, they prefer to have the largest selection so that they can make their own decision, and there may now be a place for that. A number of YouTube personalities with interests in vaping have long been telling stories of…
