Everybody has their pursuits, especially when it relates to vaping, and most can remember how and why they came to buy their first vape device, and the flavors that helped them begin. As we’ve already mentioned, in the beginning many of our flavors were made for those who couldn’t find something they liked to get them started with vaping, and the Pursuits were born out of that philosophy.
Pursuit of Happiness was the first of the three to be introduced to the Jvapes menu, and our 25th flavor overall. With a base of vanilla-caramel infused RY4 tobacco, it was a familiar flavor for many hopeful vapers in 2012. Because of RY4’s familiarity, we understood that our flavor shouldn’t deviate too much from what people knew. After a brief creation and testing process, the flavor was set. The execution was a flavor that was not too sweet, while maintaining the tobacco undertones from traditional RY4. Pursuit of Happiness was born on December 14th, 2012, named after various films, songs, and personal mantras that remind us what it’s all about. It quickly became a favorite and its faithful flavor remains at the top of the best sellers.
A little over a year after the creation of Happiness there were still customers and potential vapers looking for tobacco flavors outside of the norm. Once we got to work playing around with flavors and taste combinations, we could see plenty of potential. Because Happiness proved so popular, though, we focused on what we could improve or change there. It didn’t take long for us to settle on butterscotch, rather than caramel, as the accented flavor to tobacco. The result was a similar flavor, slightly sweeter, with just enough of a different profile to satisfy new vapers and Happiness fans. On February 10th, 2014, Happiness’ darker brother, Pursuit of Sadness, was introduced with a derived taste and name, inspired by the deeper, darker taste, but maintained the same level of popularity.
Last but not least, the final Pursuit was brought to us from a customer with a specific request: tobacco and strawberry. During the creation of our other tobacco flavors the idea had come up, but it never turned out well enough for us to be confident that vapers would love it. With the request, though, we went back to the process. A short time later, Pursuit of Madness was introduced to the menu, on May 20th, 2015. It was a vastly different variation on our other tobacco-derived flavors, and a bit sweeter than the previous Pursuits even, to the point that it sounded a bit crazy, a bit mad. Crazy that the combination was a desire, and even crazier how well it worked.
